Más Allá de la Visión · People who are blind
Helping people who are blind to perceive differently
First came the work with participants. Then came the study that documented it, and out of the study came the podcast that shares it. This is the association's longest-running project, and the one that has travelled furthest.
The project's own website is in Spanish.
The origin
From an open question to measurable evidence
We started in 2020, modestly, with an honest question in front of us: we did not know whether working on intuitive perception could bring anything real to a person who is blind. It might, and it might not. The only way to find out was to work with people, session by session, and look closely at what happened.
This is not a leisure activity and it is not a therapy. It is sustained work, guided by trained coaches, centred on autonomy, bodily perception and emotional regulation.
Today it is no longer a hunch of ours. After years of this work and a study with more than a thousand recorded trials, we have solid evidence that it does help. Participants improved measurably in self-confidence, comfort when moving around, mood, emotional management, empathy, perception and intuition: every variable we measured improved, and none got worse.
What you will find
A project with three layers
The sessions
Work with people who are blind to develop intuitive perception, orientation and confidence in movement. This is the core of the project and what everything else rests on.
The study
Our own research documenting what we observed during the sessions, with more than a thousand recorded trials and before-and-after measures of self-confidence, mood, emotional management, empathy, perception and intuition.
The podcast
Eight episodes created to share the study, with researchers, people who are blind and their families. Available on Spotify, YouTube and iVoox, in Spanish.
Collaboration
Beyond Sight
We collaborate with Beyond Sight, a global foundation that opens up access to training and perception experiences for people who are blind. This project is where that collaboration takes shape.
The project has its own website
There you will find the study explained for people who would rather not read a paper, the eight podcast episodes, related research and the ways to get involved. The site is in Spanish.
